I decided to check the valve clearance in my car so when I took off the valve covers, I found that the heads are Mexican VW 043's. Years ago (mid to late '80's) when I was tinkering a lot with VW's, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, the 041's were VW factory racing heads with larger intake valves (the exhaust valves remained the same size as the stockers). What's the scoop with these 043 heads? I've read their spark plug holes have been redesigned to prevent cracking in that area, and thus use long reach spark plugs as compared to the earlier designs. What about valve sizes? The same or larger? Thanks to all.
