I am wondering what people with CMCs have connecting the heater boxes to the tube from the subframe.

The manual shows "emission control" hose.

I wanted to use regular VW insulated, corrugated plastic ducts. Now it looks like they are too long.

Should I try to shorten them or use something else.

Someone mentioned the insulation helps reduce fan noise.

Michael,
While the engine is out of the car is a perfect time to see if you need to shorten the heater ducting tubes that go into the driver compartment. (The ones that are near the chassis torsion bar housing)
I found that mine were way longer than they needed to be. I used a cut-off wheel air tool to cut them shorter to accomodate the length of the Engine to body heater tubes.
If you have to, you can alter the length of the heater box muffler tubes you have. What do you have to loose?

Alan, I read that. In fact I suggested it to you a while back.

I don't think I want to get in to all of that with the body mounted on the pan.

It seems like the original arrangement isn't all that different than the original VW design with the heater channels along the side.

I have wondered about insulating the outside of the frame members that carry the heat.

When I finally do get it finished and am driving it I probably won't be driving on too many really cold days.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.
