Heater Boxes Needed in Ohio

The problem is that heater boxes with the aluminum fins inside (stock VW or the Dansk "heavy-weight" version) are stock 1 3/8" diameter. As far as I am aware, there are no heater boxes with internal fins made for larger than stock exhaust sizes.

These work very well on my 1.5" (Vintage Speed) exhaust, but are a bit pricey. And note the bit about having to cut and reweld the flanges for use with anything but a Bugpack exhaust. Don't know what's going on inside them, but they are heavy and provide lots of heat.

The price is for one only - they're $360 the pair.

$360 is a LOT cheaper than the $1500 or so you need for 911 stainless steel ones!

Mitch, they look like the ticket for someone who isn't shy about cutting and welding new flanges. Nice!

I found these and they don't look like they need welding since they have stock port tubing. Anyone out there using these--they claim great heat--as good ad OEM German is what I'm wondering.

I don't see any indication in the description that they are for a 1.5" exhaust (1.375" is stock). Also, they MAY connect to the exhaust with the dreaded donuts, instead of actual flanges. Best to email aircooled.net to confirm these details before ordering. They're a little slow to respond, but usually do, eventually.

I'd avoid those donut connectors. I had endless backfiring issues with my first engine that we finally traced to exhaust leaks that just couldn't be fixed thanks to those donuts.

Those would be the Dansk units with internal fins. Good for heat. However, they are also only stock diameter 1 3/8".
