I am about to install my heater levers on either side of the parking brake and I am unsure about what to do with the metal pieces with the bent over tab.

I assume they are intended to limit lever travel.

I tried fitting things on the stud a couple ways and this piece didn't seem to do anything.

A picture or link to a diagram would be great.

I found a diagram with a search but the pieces looked different.

Thanks.

Mike,
If you send me your email I can scan a picture in my vw repair book that shows how it goes on and works.
The last one I put on I got at Carlisle ( thanks Lane ) and the studs had been ground off by Beck ( they have a different set up ) and I had to rig up another way to use the heater boxes.

I now see that if the tab on my piece DID fit into Alan's slot and if I put it on the stud after the lever it would control the travel of the lever.

It seems strange that the tab doesn't go into the slot. Maybe my lever pieces are from a different year than my pan and there was some kind of change.

I guess I could enlarge the slot or file down the tab. I hate to mess with the tab, it is nicely powder coated.
