so i have been lurking on the site for a bit, i have been looking for a speedster for a few years off and on, but currently i have the bug bad.

alittle on my background

i had a race/time attack turboed lancer and a few other race cars along with alot of vw's a 52 split window magazine feature car and a 1963 vw ragtop feature car. i am a car designer and fabricator and i love cars in general.

i have looked at a few speedster in the past week, they all seem to be a bit "weird" one i looked at was shaking extremely bad, the rear was shaking and slapping the doors, the second i looked at had the door skin seperating from the inner structure of the door, so my questions are

1. can u get these cars to stay together if u drive them alot, avoid stress cracks and such

2. where do i find parts such as side chrome, tailights and rubber seals.

thanks for the look and i hope to own a speedster in the future, sorry for the long post.

Brian,
Whether the car will stay together if driven a lot depends on one major factor: Who built it.
If the car is a Factory Built Vintage, JPS, IM, etc. then you can probably use it as a daily driver and, if you take care of it, it will stay together for many many years.
However, if the car is a Fiberfab, CMC, etc., then you don't know what the builder used for components, and it may be as reliable as the 68 VW with 180,000 miles on it that the builder used as a donor.
Or, if the builder used all new or rebuilt components, then this car too would last a long time.

Parts such as side chrome, tailights and rubber seals are available through many of the Vendors noted on this site. Click on "Makers".
