Being brand new to the forum I'd just like to say hi to everyone and introduce myself.

I guess you could say I'm a very recent Porsche convert, that is after I testdrove a Boxter. Since I've outgrown my Jeep fascination and a Boxter is out of my price range, and I've always had a knack for classics, I've been devouring everything I find about the 356. I'll be in the market to purchase a replica fairly soon, and I'd like to get a feel for what's out there, what's quality and what isn't, etc.

BTW, if any of you guys is located near Minneapolis, MN and own a Speedster, please drop me a line.

Best,

David.

Welcome - try to see and if possible test drive a Vintage Speedster, JPS Speedster, and Intermeccanica Speedster or convetible "D". Then get prices for cars and options and check your budget. I could buy a new Boxster "S" for what my new Intermeccanica Speedster will cost but it has a lot of expensive options/extras - custom high performance engine, custom 901 5-speed transaxle, rack and pinion steering, Espar gas heater for heat/defrost, custom Porsche 356A aluminum wheels, leather interior, custom VDO gauges, etc.
Welcome David,

I bought a used JPS, didn't know about this site. Fortunately I've been very happy with my car as most past and present members would agree, JPS is a great builder.

John's had my car for months adding on a bunch of options. I would suggest looking into a 5 speed, disc brakes, rollup windows and at least a 1776. Probably extra heating capability.

Keep asking your questions, everyone's very opinionated. When you get really serious and you've narrowed your buying choice to include JPS, I suggest flying down to meet John. He's very HONEST and helps people with options that's right for each person.

You're so lucky to have found this site.

David
