I thought i would say hello to everyone on this site. I acquired a speedster a few months ago and am loving it. It was originally from a member on this site and don't know how many people it went through before i bought it.

Nice! An I particularly like the furry seat ornament.
Welcome to the Madness, Raffi!
Beautiful car
Welcome to the madness as Lane said. This is the place for car crazy people. Enjoy that beautiful car.
Welcome! Clean looking machine.
Vintage Speedster CA ultra-wide body from the early 2000s. Those are increasingly rare. Welcome!

Congratulations Raffi. I'm sure someone really cool owned that car. The guy probably had the late Roland Rascon build a bad ass 2275 for it too. I bet it was an mixed blood Italian, Polish, Hispanic dude from Chicago. That's my guess
Thank you everyone. And yes, Marty you guessed it a Rascon 2275 motor and a cool dude from Chicago.
my rascon 2275 was kick ass, had a hotter cam (125?) revved like nothing else..
I bet you bought it from Billy D and Marty owned it once I have the original wheels from it. It looks Great!! Hope you Enjoy it !!
You got it right Arden.
Welcome to the club! Great car.
Here are some early pictures of your car when Marty and Sandy drove it from Chicago to east Tennessee for our second run on the Tail of the Dragon in 2008. In the middle picture they're the third car back.
Good memories Lane! That car gets around.
A lot of people tend to be afraid of taking longer trips in these cars, thinking they're meant put around town on weekends only. These are real cars, folks. @ford356outlaw, you should meet us at one of our gatherings. Where are you located?
Hi Lane, great pics. I am just a hop, skip, and jump away in Los Angeles,CA. Technically porter ranch, ca. I would love to meet some folks and take the car out for a long drive. My little furry friend in one of my pics was ill and just recently just passed, so i pretty much was spending all my free time with him. Im also restoring a 67 mustang fastback and a 79 chromatic bronco. All that said i still want to start taking the speedster out, so if anyone is around my area please let me know.
So sorry to hear about your furry friend's passing. It seems that most of us on this forum are also dog lovers, and we can sympathize with your loss.
There are a whole bunch of the guys here in your vicinity, so you should have no shortage of group cruising opportunities. Enjoy!

Follow the link below and select "Sort by Geographical Area" When the box opens up enter your zip code and a search distance parameter. You will also need to specify which country you're in. It'll tell you which members are in your area. You can PM them or look for them here. Some may not be active. But if you send me your zip code I can tell you who is.

Welcome to the asylum. If you haven't already heard, two rules: First, go nuts, second, keep the shiny side up & keep it between the ditches.
It's been my experience many folks who post to this forum actually know how to do stuff and spin their own wrenches.
You ride looks serious.

"The guy" also needs to borrow a few vowels.
Raffi, 'Welcome To The Madness' known as replicar ownership! Your new ride is awesome and I'm totally digging' on your Bronco and Pony car.
There are quite a few of us in SoCal that have gathered for cruises through Mulholland and Malibu mountains as well as other destinations. I'll be sure to give you a shout when our next cruise is scheduled.
Here is an older (abbreviated) video of one of our cruises through Tuna Canyon (Topanga Drive) and then onto Mulholland Hwy with a lunch stop at the Rock Store.
Hope to see you at one of our SOC gatherings!
@MusbJim great video. I will definitely want to do that cruise. That looked great. Hopefully the weather cools down soon, its been way too hot out here. The mustang and bronco are coming along, can't wait to get them on the road as well. In the meantime i get to have fun in the speedster.
@Robert M my zip is 91326.
Thank you everyone for being so awesome. Much appreciated. In a crazy world its nice that car guys always come together.

There were three pages of members within 25 miles of you but unfortunately most of them are not active on this site. They may be actively driving their cars but I can't tell. The members I'm listing have been active or at least visit the site on occasion and may be interested in going on drives with you. @MusbJim said to give him a shout out for a drive because his Rolodex is thick with numbers and he could help get a drive together. The others are: @Tom Murtaugh @QBNROAD @jncspyder @Sean Seena @Karyadi and @jprpdr
jprpdr is in Westchester, near LAX. Free time for driving is limited due to wife's health problems. Short meetings possible.
We'll be sure to give you a shout when we schedule our next cruise after this heat wave. For cruises north of L.A. in the Muholland/Malibu area we usually rendezvous at the Topanga Motel on PCH in Malibu Beach (PCH just north of Topanga Cyn.
For cruises south (OC Santiago Cyn) we rendezvous in Mission Viejo and San Diego area for run up to Palomar Mt & Observatory.
I usually post on here a month in advance so that people can plan their logistics.
@Robert M Thanks for the shout out
@ford356outlaw Welcome, although I'm not sure if I'm qualified to be extending that greeting being that I'm technically new to the party too. I've been snooping around on this forum for years, but just like you, only recently finally got into a car a few months ago. Another unfortunate circumstance we share is the loss of a furry family member, I extend my condolences.
But what we don't share is that you've been fortunately enjoying yours right away, whereas 99% of the time I've spent with mine has been in the garage! Hopefully I'll get her all sorted and ready to join the pack soon
You'll get there, Sean.
I bought my CMC as a kit for something to help me forget about my real work for a while. The real work hours just got longer so it took me around 7 years to finish it but it was good therapy. I got it on the road in 2001 or so and have been "finishing" it ever since.
Enjoy the adventure, ask lots of questions here (also use the search function, as there is a TON of great build info buried in older posts) and let us help when we can - as long as you can tolerate a bit of thread drift - we're notorious for that

@Sean Seena Sorry for your loss as well. It is never easy, im glad i got to give my guy a ride in the speedster before he passed.
Hopefully you will get your car up and running by the end of this year. Its to hot these days to take it out anyways. Are you doing the work yourself on it?
@ford356outlaw posted:I thought i would say hello to everyone on this site. I acquired a speedster a few months ago and am loving it.
Congratulations on your car, Raffi. It's a beauty. And, as everyone has said, welcome to the madness!
Mike
I never thought Marty was the wide bodied type.
Amazing - the things you learn about people's past...
@Gordon Nichols Thanks for the warm invite to questions. Trust me, I've got them!! I've been trying to work through everything I can do or solve on my own through the forum's past discussions, but I think it's time to start unleashing some of these q's that I'm not making much progress on.
@ford356outlaw Thank you. Yes, I'm doing virtually all of the work myself with my father's help. Sounds like you're doing all of it yourself? That said, there are a few things I think I might have to turn to the professionals for, eg potentially changing the exhaust system (which I'm planning on posting about soon).
