Hello - Jumping into “the madness” with both feet

Congratulations on a solid purchase with Greg at Vintage Motorcars. I believe now is a great time to buy a new spec'd-to-your-wishes Speedster. Greg and Carey are both putting out great cars that will probably need very little, if any, sorting.

Post whatever pics you can and when one of us visits Greg we can get some photos of the progress too.

Congratulations on the buy, Warren.  It's a big leap of faith (not to mention a lot of cash) but you live in a great area for a Speedster and will certainly have one of the few around - Heck, I live in an area where there are a bunch of 356s and never see a oone when I go out solo.  You won't, too.

Gordon, yes, it is a leap of faith. I’ve never even ridden in one much less driven one. It will be the only one around here as far as I know. I go to a lot of local meet ups and cars & coffee events and haven’t seen any around here. In my local rural area just about everyone drives a Ford or Chevy truck. Even at the car meet ups trucks and classic American cars are pretty much the only thing you’ll see. I did see a picture of a 550 replica from a local event, but haven’t seen it in person. 

Panhandle Bob, that sounds great. Also,  I’m tentatively planning on attending Cruisin the Coast in Biloxi next year if the timing works out. Always wanted to check that out but the timing usually conflicts with a work-related trade show I attend.

Aloha Warren, welcome.  Seems to me you're the type that's ready to learn and does not expect to be taught, that approach will take you along way.  I've been addicted to air cooled  for decades and learn new stuff constantly.

I like the sound of the fan on air cooled motors.  I like the hint of the smell of gas from the carbs.  Your ride should get up and  scoot with that 2332.

Post pictures when you get it home.

Greg recommended a new option/upgrade he had, 3.44, so I went with that. 

That works, I had it with a 2110 cc and it is very good for cruising at 70mph

Awesome! Found your post here with your VM experience @wardog (Warren). Congrats! That 2332 should really rip. I contemplated a bigger motor, but the 1915cc sounded like where I wanted to start.
