HELP, my car was just delivered with a few gremlins, id like to get it sorted out today so i can play before calling the factory tomorrow. The wire for the trunk latch wasn't connected, can someone send me pictures of their front latch from underneath so i can replicate it? The wire is there and i know it needs to pull to the Left, but not sure the best way to do it / how it connects.

Also can i get a pic of someones Tach from the back? Mine lights up and shows the turn signal indication but doesn't show the RPM's... I'm assuming just a loose wire.

The trunk latch is more crucial since I have no gas in it right now...

Please help, pictures of my latch attached.

Giday, Amish. My front trunk latch release wire broke in two just when I needed to get at my spare tire on a trip a while back. You can release it by hand from underneath. You might need a flashlight, but get under the front and look up...study things a bit and you'll be able to find and move the latch over ( release ) by hand or worst case you may need to push it with a screwdriver or pliers. I can't remember how the wire attaches to the release mechanism but it is simple. Because we were travelling with the car at the time, I stole the wire from the rear engine hood release latch and installed it on the front.

Amish---good to see you on the SOC site. I saw you on Vintage's site and now your getting your second Vintage Speedster. Good to see a satisfied, repeat customer.

On a spare--I just switched the spare that came with my car to one of the modern "donut" spare tires that you see on most of the new cars these days. It went right on my wide 5 rim and fits beautifully in the trunk. I had to deflate the old spare to comfortably close the trunk and planned on refilling the air if needed, with an on board electric pump.

On the rear trunk latch--I got the idea here of adding a second release wire to the latch mechanism. This is a spare and is just attached at the bumper mount. If my main wire ever breaks I can use the spare. I guess the same thing would work for the front latch---I'll have to look at that.

Good luck with your 2012 VS.
