Help needed locating next project....

Shortly before the run on the Smokies, I sold the Spyder and thought I had a Speedster lined up as the next project.....The car was sold before I could contact the owner the second time....Another candidate was listed on the Samba as being located in the outer banks, but was actually in San Diego...(How can you confuse THAT?).....Anyway, If anyone stumbles onto a Speedster, Spyder, or Manx SR, let me know please.....Looking for a good roller, (preferd), or a running vehicle.....I'm not looking for show quality, but don't want a rust bucket either.....I'm haunting Samba and Ebay, but haven't found anything local (east coast).....I would prefer a "replica/glass" car over steel......

Any help at all will be appreciated......Thanks....

leon, i have a cmc that i rebuilt about 6 years ago and i am thinking of selling it.
send me an email and i'll send back some pictures and a phone number. i'm in old fort tn just outside of cleveland, so it's not too far to maybe get together.

Leon--contact Alan merkin--he completes or refurbishes enough Speedsters a year to be listed as one of the largest makers here!
You have seensome of his cars and he always has a few projects going at all times---in various stages of completion so you could finish it yourself if you wanted to.

Just a thought.

Try one of the CraigsList search engines - can specify area and price range. Just have to act fast if price is right. Rust bucket in Speedsters just means you have to replace the floor pans. Google "craigslist search engine"

I was pushing this one on my brother in NJ - it might cross the rust bucket line in the sand though! Has great potential! Combo steel and fiberglass!

Oooo, ick on the 914. I love 'em, but the rust on that one is pretty bad. Usually what you can't see is many times larger than what you can.

I 'm waiting for the Georgia owner to return from a business trip and specs and pics from Bob.....As Alan said....".Something will come along."

I'm going to look at a car that supposedly has a 2 liter type 4 engine.....Is there any readily apparent numbering, parts layout or such I can use to verify this ?.........Thanks again..... ;-)

An OEM 2L 914 had a GA/GB/GC starting engine serial number and the carb intake manifolds have 3 studs each side (vs 4 for 1.7/1.8L) holding the carbs intake/FI runner on. Not sure engine SN on the rare '76 912Es but they were 2L T4 too.
