Help where to mount the oil cooler?

HI, I have a Melling pump to mount but not sure where is the best place, I have read about not getting it too far from the engine, Any ideas or pics please send along thanks again guys

Horizontal over the driver's side axle, it's a tight fit and you'll need to fabricate mounting brackets. Best to add a "cover" of 1/4" hardware cloth (screen) to protect it from road stones etc. ~Alan

I mount mine directly below the trans. No fan, no gaurd, no problems. I've been running them there on my VW's since the 1980's. I don't do any off roading, so I haven't had any problems.

I like mounting engine stuff to facilitate removal of engine and components as a package. With cooler mounted beneath trans and filter mounted on engine, it's lots easier to R&R motor without breaking into oil lines or removing lots of external stuff. I just remove things like oil filter, cooler, coil, etc. along with the engine.

Thanks greg, that might be the best place to put it. The thing that comes up now is that do I really need one?

Just make sure the filter doesn't get any hot exhaust air from the engine.
