I just grabbed up a cheapo Autometer Pro-Comp tach, and promptly took it apart. It has three wires coming out of the back, rather the the traditional four wires for hot, ground, coil and light.

One of the wires is for the light, the other two wires run to an isolator board, one to a diode and then off into the guts of the tach, the other to a grommet and off to the outer armature(?). This wire also runs to the light housing as a ground I believe.

I suspect that I need an Autometer Tach Sender but I don't know where to grab one, and was wondering if this sort of two wire tach can be run directly to an MSD box and get it's sending signal there. I have a hot box ready to install. It ISN'T the sort of tach that take it's signal directly from the coil, and with just the two wires, I don't know where the tach gets it's 12 volts or ground from either.

Any help with this? Anyone run one/seem one before?

Thanks !
