This is usually caused by "DRAG" within the drive that couples the cable and indicator.....If it only occurs when cold, I would suspect a misalignment of some sort.... Try loosening the cable attachment nut a couple of turns..... If it effects the unit, you may have to reroute the cable.... If it doesn't you probably need to have it serviced.... Trying to WD-40 the thing will just mess up everything....
You need to moly lube the speedo Just a short burst in the cable hole then drive it abit and repeat if needed .

Thats a common simple fix. WD-40 will displace moisture. but dosent lube it very well. The lithium moly lube seems to last a long long while.

I have to do the beetle every fall. if not it wil make a devel of a noise on the first cold morning that comes along.
Your sister-in-law was upset probably because she couldn't avert her eyes from your junk! 8-)

Sorry for the hijack, Stephen! As you may have surmised, there are some very sick people on this site. Bwaaaaaa.....

Speaking of which, mark your calendar to join us on the next Tour D'Hoe. Its a very cool cruise around Lake Tahoe with a bunch of SOCers! PS - do a 'Search' on here for Tour D'Hoe.
Okay, I'll take this thread the rest of the way down. Larry the Cable guy was visiting the Wisconsin Dells on his TV show. He was at a water ski show and a woman was skiing by with one leg on a ski facing backwards and the the other leg raised high holding the rope with her toes. Larry said "that move is illegal in the Olympics. It's the flying camel.". I completely lost it.
