About twice a week I chat with Henry about my new car, and email him more often. The funny thing is that I think he's more of a perfectionist than I am, even about the little nitty-gritty detail stuff. I've asked him to spend extra time block sanding and prepping the car for paint, and God only knows how many other things and he is always cheerful and obliging.
He has on several ocassions gone out of his way to research stuff for my car and find a better way of doing something or a better parts assemby - for instance, the newer permanent magnet bosch starter (a bit lighter and higher torque) and a non-assisted VW golf rack and pinion steering (smaller, lighter, and less expensive than the Passat units he normally uses as an option). When IM couldn't find replica Speedster racing bucket seats either at a price or quality level that was suitable they simply tooled up to make their own seat bucket shells.
He's even enthusiastic about my Biven's aluminum 356A replica wheels, even though he won't be selling me a set of wide-five Porsche replica wheels and hub caps (he says the quality of Mangel Brazilian repro VW and Porsche wheels is not up to par but there is no other ready source for steel wheels).
Henry has gone out of his way to find additional suppliers for higher quality leather, top/tonneau fabrics, etc. The fact that he only uses Glasurite paints (more expensive) is one of the reasons the finish on his cars is so outstanding.
Finally, Henry seems to be more excited about my new car than I am, which tells you something about how much he enjoys being "Mr. Intermeccanica" and building some of the best replicars in the world.
