Brewing the "Brewster ". 1955 VW volksrod. Powered by EFI v6 Up front . Rear suspension of a 944s turbo w/BMW differential. . The old real Vw part is the dog house. Everything else custom

Joe, were those side air intakes functional?

On the Brewster, what are you calling 'The original dog house'? In the VW world, the term 'Dog house' commonly refers to a specific type of oil cooler / cooling tin setup. Regardless, awesome project. I think once you get the hang of that metal fabrication stuff the project will really take off!

Yes the side quarter air inlets are functional. Each one is ported to the webers.

I think I'm getting the hang of working with metal.

Dog house is firewall to back of the body. Just using the shell. Chopped 6 in, body raked 2 in. And wheelbase increased 24 in

Any info/pics of those fender vents to the carbs?

The vents were bought from a company online. Modifications were made to make them fit. Behind them in the wheel well areas are custom made carbon fiber Nacca ducts with flanges . Yes I made them . Duct tube is brake duct tubing. Then it's 90'ed into the engine compartment with a craftsman duct collector 90 fitting. I was the perfect size for the brake duct hose. The rear engine deck cover louvres were flipped over to release air rather than to draw air in.

The term dog house,, I believe, was first used in the early 1900's, to describe the small cabin on the deck of a rather large wooden sailboat. Note the dog house on, this the 1901 Americas Cup boat, the "Columbia". (This is a model of the boat)

Sun Coast Porsche, doing business as, Sun Coast Parts.com, sells the side vents for the various versions of Boxster and Caymans.  If you have flared wheel wells and fiberglass working skills, you could make one of the various choices work out.

 

 

I used to repair surfboards no problem. I have thought about this ever since I've owned my black car.

New project is in the garage.1960 MBZ 220 se cabriolet convertible w/ original fuel injection . Not my car just repairing the chassis . No parts available so I have to make them.

Look up Wray Schelin on Facebook (Wray's Pro Metal Shapers).  Same metal skills plus he teaches classes in this stuff.  Always nice to be inspired by the work of others and you two are inspirational!! 

I've been trying to get that way to take a few classes. I am going to Baltimore to see the wife next week. She been on a government detail for 6 months.

Well, enjoy Baltimore.  We've been there more than a few times (and me a lot more than that by myself) and there's a lot to do to share with your wife.
