In preparation for receiving a Vintage Speedster which will likely need some sorting, I'm trying to find a good aircooled mechanic/shop. I do most of my own work, but know little (read: nothing, although I have bought all the recommended books) about VWs. Anybody good and trustworthy around the Baltimore/Annapolis area?

Cory Drake needs to chime in here. I believe that he lives in (or near) Annapolis, and he has found an excellent one.
On Saturday come meet my friend, co-driver and mechanic Glenn McCoy. He lives in Stevensville, MD (just across the Bay Bridge, has been my best friend since 1967 (we are both from Detroit) and probably knows speedster replicas as much as anyone. He also is one of those gifted people that can dial in multiple carbs. I would put him up against anyone.

I went to an amazing guy in Centreville MD he redid my whole engine and I think he's amazing, contact me for his info, But I too live in Baltimore and took me forever but SSI did some work for me on Joppa RD.
I can't imagine driving to Centreville for a carb adjustment, but if I ever need something major, I'd be interested. I'm thinking I might attempt it myself, at which point I'll likely make a mess of it and need some major help...
SSI has done some work on my water pumper 911. I wasn't aware they worked on air cooled cars. Every time I've been there, they've been packed with water cooled Porsches. Until I bought this car, I didn't realize how few and far between air cooled mechanics have become.
VERY late to this party, but if 19652plus2 has a phone, he can call me on mine; 443.995.05seven6.
I'd hope he's got a name, too.
The name's Chris. Sloane at SSI has the Speedster purring like the proverbial kitten. Thanks though.
