I was thinking (but certainly didn't share my thoughts with any entrants) that an original 904 just isn't a car you can go out and buy when you desire one, even if you do have the cash. I was enjoying "suckering" some of Tom's viewers to "buy one right now", just to see their reaction to a replica.

By the way, ALL of the entrants with 356 cars were damn nice folks and a pleasure to talk with - even about replicas.
Tom and Jeannie? Two of my MOST FAVORITE people!

I have the 904 motor back from the building and stored safely in the crate. 450HP on pump gas. Got to send the spyder down the road, that would hasten the 904 as in addition to the $$$ car itself, we'll spec a sequential Mendola, and will have about 5K into the snail, intercooler and induction. That will be a very, very serious build.

Think shock and awe - in replica form.

When Chris and I were at the Rolex 24 in 2009, one of the drivers in the TRG paddock (Kurt Kossman on #63 car) had been talking with Chuck Beck about his 904 replica (which runs a Porsche 993 engine). We were talking with some of the drivers in the garage area when I look up and there's this old (way older than me) shaved-head, Old-Marine-looking guy looking into the garage. I nudged Chris and said: "Hey! Isn't that Chuck Beck?" and he thought it was, too, so we went over and said hi. He was looking for Kurt so we found him and introduced the two.

To make a long story manageable, Chuck had driven his 904 replica down from Atlanta to show it to Kurt and we all got to see it.

Quite the car, to be sure and very nicely finished.

BTW, Kurt had lost his lower left leg to cancer when he was a kid and was driving the Rolex while wearing a prosthesis. You have to admire that, but he just saw it as a minor inconvenience.

Great footage of that race on the Guardian Angel Motorsports web page. Just go to the site below and scroll down 1/3'rd or so and click on the videos - they appear in reverse order, so start at the bottom if you want to keep them in order. People on the videos are Bruce Ledoux, RJ Valentine and Andy Lally, drivers, and Kevin Buckler of TRG Motorsports who handled the support efforts for the race:

There are also clips of the various charities that Guardian Angel Motorsports supports - They're worth a look, too....
Gordon,

There is a really neat organization called Limbs for Life. They provide prosthetic limbs but perhaps more importantly, they provide a show case for people DOING things with prosthetics. This is one of the few organizations I donate to regularly.

The Emory family (Emory Outlaws/Emory Campout fame) are strong supports of this. How strong? How about donating THIS for a raffle:

I coughed up the dough for two tickets. Told Steve they were both mine. Yeah, like THAT would have happened...

Jim? When Steve gets email going, which might not be for a while and will definately be sporadic, his email is (remove spaces)

Pretty dang funny email address, isn't it?
