Since this is off-theme anyway ... there I was, minding my own business ...
I do a little non-commercial art for folks from time to time. This was a contribution to the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department's Rescue Squad No. 7; they took their old piece out of service a month or so ago and replaced it with this giant brute. It looked a bit sterile, so they wanted some nose art. Those guys have always had a coffee pot on for me, so I did some pen-and-ink for 'em in exchange for a Squad 7 T-shirt.
The old rig had an airbrushed buzzard holding a "7" on the side of it, wearing a fire helmet and with a Hurst tool for a tail -- http://www.myfirecompanies.com/detphoto_front.php?photo_id=8699&isalbum=0&album_id=425&h=902&w=570
They wanted a thematic continuation of the buzzard and it needed to incorporate the old squad somehow. This was the old one: http://www.myfirecompanies.com/detphoto_front.php?photo_id=8698&isalbum=0&album_id=425&h=902&w=570
I gave a new one to them on paper, and they found an artist to transfer it to the truck. Great ... except there's a slight difference from one side to the other. It really wrecked it for me when Haifler backed the beast into the station and pointed the mistake out.
An egg sammich to the person who can spot "it":

Okay ... so the line for the egg sammiches will form outside the high school band's booth. How in blazes can the guy PAINTING the number get it backward?
Auuugh! But he's coming out Monday to fix his error. Nose art on the Hoopty was dismissed early on because I couldn't decide what, if anything, was appropriate. I do think it looks pretty cool on a big old bomber like this. I really like where they decided to put it.
Vince, I paid the neighbor-kid. He's five. 'Bout time he had a job.
David, I like the way you think. I did a one a while back, when I was on better terms with the guy who did the grunt work on my build. It would be funny, but he wouldn't be amused; doubtless, he'd take it the wrong way.
Nonetheless, you've got me contemplating it ... lol. I think I can draw that old desert dog fairly well.
Here's what I had:

Cory,
Great artwork!
The motto -- "Spirit of the Old. Pride of the New" -- was also the motto of my ship: USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64), an attack aircraft carrier. She now sits decommissioned at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard awaiting the same fate of USS ORISKANY: to be sunk as an artificial reef.
