Noticed a new high-pitch engine-speed dependent whistle at higher RPM's tonight.  It's there whether trans is engaged or not.

Sounds like an air whistle to me.

Recently, I also have been having what I thought was heat soak carb boil over remedied by turning off the fuel pump before stopping.

Could they be related?  Maybe carb to manifold gaskets or is an exhaust leak more likely?

I have an A1 sidewinder with a flange between the header & the muffler/tailpipe assembly.

Nope. Webers.  My DD is in the shop until Friday, so I was counting on driving Natalie to work today & tomorrow.  This morning, I confirmed that gas is not spewing out of the carb gaskets.  Sound was not there this morning.

I felt confident enough to make my 10 minute commute to work.

As I approached work, noise started coming back....slightly.

Thinking it's a function of heat too.  Fan belt warming up, possibly on it's way out?
