Looking at upgrading to a Banjo wheel. Just interested in the history of the Golden Lady (horn button) and the association of the image with Porsche.
Googled it, but alas - found nothing. Can anyone clue me in?
Thanks!

The golden lady was supposedly in a Moscow hotel room, the same one where Obama once stayed, when... oh geez, sorry - I just read the topic title and not your whole post.
I believe it had something to do with several coachbuilders for Porsche from just after WWII well into the '60's and early '70's. There has to be more info out there somewhere...
interesting

Maybe you meant 'Trump?'

So a symbol that memorializes Luxembourg war victims somehow gets paired with the German Porsche?
Hrm.
Yeah, that can't be right. Not the same image as the statue either. I took a shot.
The Chicago World's Fair Golden Lady is a better likeness but I can't see ho that gets to VW 50+ years later either.
Looks like also called "Greek Lady" but I can't find any explanation or background about the medallion under that moniker either. Got one with my new steering wheel too so now it's gonna bug me.
That's quite the schnozz on the lady-'o-gold.
It's obviously a nod to Stevie Wonder.

She has quite the flopped-back Beehive hairdo, too. Maybe from something like this:
Petri release a few horn buttons around the same time: the Golden (or Greek) Lady, St. Christopher and the Sun & the Moon.
St. Christopher is the patron Saint of travelers. The Sun and Moon, IMO, appears to be of some navigational meaning.
I wondered if the Greek Lady kept with that theme. Does she represent a Greek Goddess of travelers. I researched but could not locate a direct match as there is no Goddess of travelers. Rather, Hermes is thought to be the God of travelers.
Could the Golden / Greek Lady be Aphrodite, the Goddess of beauty? See attached.
I couldn't find any other goddesses (or gods) that resembled the one found on the horn button.
Has anyone figured out the history of the Lady in the Horn button?
Most of those have some spiritual connection if you go back far enough
Didn't @Marty Grzynkowicz have one of those?
He should be able to give us the history of it.
I've sometimes seen her on a horn button surrounded by Zodiac signs (unless I'm confusing her with another button).

You're confused Gordon. St. Christopher, patron saint of travelers, is surrounded by the symbols of the zodiac on the horn button.

This is the best I've been able to come up with.
Saint Christopher is considered to be the Patron Saint of Travelers. However, St. Bona of Pisa is considered to be the female Patron Saint of Travelers. I found this picture of her and the profile seems to be similar although on the horn button she isn't wearing the flowered headdress.
I ran the ST Christopher. it's a great badge. I think ISP West has a good one.
i saw a post on this site in 2017 asking about the golden lady, lots of speculation but no real answer
.
Excellent, Robert.
I think you've solved the puzzle.
For a long time, I thought it was an image of Empi, the Greek goddess of Unfulfilled Promises.
