It's not a joke. People are willing to pay $20,000 and up for fiberglass "cars" with no modern safety features that are being cranked out as fast as possible....but $275 for a limited edition car badge that is apparently never going to be reproduced is ridiculous?

Supply and demand....that is just plain and simple economics.
Cory,
Looks like he deleted the ad. He either sold it or he decided he wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he sold it for that much.
If anyone else has an extra one, I have a lot of extra speedster and VW motor parts in the garage that I can do some swapping with. It is getting about time to make a little bit of room in the garage so I can actually find my speedster and get it done for Carlisle.

Holy Crap is right, here is the badge that a lot of guys here say they would like to have, a friend of mine offered two badges to the members on this board, he couldn't get anyone to make a decent offer on the two of them , so he called me and asked if I would like to buy them. Sure, I 'll take them, for more than was offered here. Viv is an old friend that uses my chassis for his cars and we trade a few things back and forth. So I am doing a bit of house cleaning and wondered why I bought them, posted one on thesamba.com and sold it for 125 in an hour. A guy told his buddy about it and the buddy bought it, then the guy sees the second one for sale for 250, calls me up and says he should have bought the first one he turned his buddy onto, I told him he could buy it for 100, since he sold the first one for me, with a couple of stammers, he declines and says "maybe later". so it sits on thesamba for a couple of months, no takers, and thinking it was probably priced too low, I added another 25 bucks to it, and an instant "will buy" comes thru. You just gotta find the right price point for anything you are selling, and I only knew of one NOS "corpes" badge available, mine, so what is the going rate for one? apparently 275, with the shipping included, Angela. It went to Hawaii. AND I have two other people wanting badges if I can find other new old stock ones.
The price for having the badge made is about 30 bucks, order 100, who would like to step up and buy the batch. IF you can get around the copyright. And using speedstersowners.com name on it. I'll take one or two when you get it together and stop talking about it and just make a few.
There will be a new "corpes" badge out beore long.
Can you imagine what a NOS speedster would bring? probably more than the couple of thou back in 57.

TC, there's a reason the song goes 'Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Speedster Replicas."
It's as American as any apple pie I ever ate. Besides, the guy who was cooking that shift was the senior medic, and they got slammed with three calls in a row while the first apple pie was in the oven. Nobody realized it until the pie was burnt until one guy off the ladder truck said, 'Hey, what smells like burnt pie?"
I said, "Hang on there, fellas. I have one in my freezer at home that came from a guy in Katy, Texas. I promise -- it'll be the best apple pie ever."
I went to my house and got it.
Turned out it was deeeee-licious, and it saved dessert, too.
It was worth every penny I didn't get for the corpse badge; supply and demand. We needed the pie. I just didn't realize it when I gave the badge away and got rewarded with a monster confection!
