Wow, go do a little rafting for a few days and you're 368 posts behind. You guys have been busy.

Pam (my adrenaline-junkie wife) and I rafted the Gauley river in West Virginia this weekend. Holy Mother of Moses!!!!! I've done a little whitewater before, but this is the pinnacle. During what the call "Gauley season" (this past Friday until sometime in October) they release somewhere around 2800 cubic feet per second from the Summersville Dam on the Gauley River which makes for some incredible, world-class whitewater. When the release is in progress, the Upper Gauley is rated as the #2 whitewater in North America, and the #7 in the world. The Lower Gauley is (I believe) #11. I've done rivers with 4's and a single 5 (the Chatooga, where they filmed "Deliverance"), but this has six 5+'s on the Upper alone. We did the Lower on Friday and the Upper on Saturday. I never came out of the boat on the Upper, and only once on the Lower when we stopped suddenly in a piddly little 3 (boat stopped, 2 of us didn't). Good crew and incredible guides. I wholeheartedly recommend the good folks at the ACE Adventure Center.

Damn near as much fun as a Speedster!
