Wondering which year hood badge wil fit my cmc speedster, and where to buy..Thanks

I also had the "Hood Badge" problem, but I was cruising the beach one day, and low and behold, problem solved....of course my vision is a little obstructed, so now I have a windshield problem, of course I'm in no hurry to fix it...

I'm not putting a hood handle, just want the crest to mount on my hood...

In that case you may want a later, bigger one.

Bob, it could be that you're looking for the 901 badge for your car. It fits perfectly with the contour of the hood. There is a rubber seal that goes under it, and you'll need to drill a couple holes also. Measure twice, cut once.
The distinct difference between the earlier badges and the current ones are mostly cosmetic; I believe you're looking for the kind which don't have the Porsche name filled in with black enamel -- ala the 901.

Like Cory said - some use orange instead of red and they can be had in either gold or silver.

Correct me if im wrong, but pretty sure all 356's and A models used the Orange stripes as opposed to the red.

Orangeish soild not a true red translucent color (OEM) is the way to tell a real early badge from a reproduction 356 or early 901 series badge. The original orangeish ones are getting hard to find good ones.......I can't remember the year it changed but it was in the 70's maybe 74.

Bob, I bought mine from a dismantler. They aren't that hard to come by in red, but be prepared to spend fifty bucks.
eBay probably has them by the bushel, and the rubber seal can be had from either Pelican Parts or Tweeks.

TC - Those things are straight from Beijing, China! No studs on back and the "enameling" looks suspiciously like lead based paint. Very cheap price (its for a pair) due to blatant copyright infringement. I'm sorry but I'd demand a real badge on my fake plastic PORSCHE. It's a matter of ethics!

I know they're rough looking from the factory, but if you do just a little fussing with an exacto, hit the reds with a bit of DupliColor anodized red paint and fill the low areas with a nice two part clear epoxy to mimic the look of cloisonne, that would be one sweet looking badge.

Honestly, I have two originals and looked at them closely in comparison to that repo coining out of China, and the basics are there for a really nice crest.

Just saying that the price is right and it can be made to look pretty convincing, and isn't that the essence of what this whole Speedster Thing is all about . . . ?
