Hello Everyone,
I love the look of the cobra, Z3/Z4, SLK etc "hoop" roll bars, since every speedster kit is different are there any universal roll bars or hoop roll bars that can be slightly modded and bolted in? If not how much do you think it would cost to have some fabbed up? Would it be like 3K? I know a speedster isnt built for safety but a little protection/peace of mind in case of a roll over wont hurt. :) Not to mention I think it would look really nice/hot-rod-ish.

BTW I am heavily looking at the SAW speedster but they dont offer it as an option.

Thanks
Shawn

Shawn,

I am almost sure that Steve will design a real roll bar to mount to the chassis in the SAW car even if he does not offer it in the published material. I spent some quality time with Steve while researching the cars (Although I went with IM, it was because of proximity to my location and all the fiddling I wanted to cooperatively do with the builder during the design and build of my water cooled car.) and saw no reason why a real roll bar or even cage could not be accommodated. Henry at IM offers a roll bar which I opted for. These are good ideas in my estimation. A positive note in the SAW car is the steel frame in the door which id not offered in some other cars. It may offer side protection.

Let us know when you have made your choice!

Years ago I worried about a roll bar. I've got a bunch of miles in these cars. dr. Clock probably has more. But i am convinced that it would be a circus feat to roll a Speedster. I've rolled two other cars in my day, but a Speedster seems to slide / loose/ fast/ oversteer, whateve you want to call it, that you are not going to upset the apple cart.

Has anyone EVER seen a Speedster rolled?

Jack
