I have great news. After long years of trying to decide what to do about a paint job, several things have happened in the last couple weeks which have led me to a conclusive decision. First was our esteemed colleague in Wisconsin, Rich Drewek, drafting up what the car would look like in my favorite color of Greyhound Bus Blue, circa 1940. It looked good to me, but didn't quite do the car justice. Several friends offered me some good advice, and Rich drafted up a second rendering -- and hit a home run.
So, it looks like she'll stay silver and orange. That's not the best news, believe it or not. A guy who lives close to me has an old (not older, but outright old) IM, and he's frustrated with his inability to get to his mechanicals. He's brought a couple TVR Griffiths back from the brink of death, and has a couple Avantis besides -- and is a GREAT fiberglass guy. He's offered to help me fill and smooth, prime and paint the Sloppy Jalopy in time for Carlisle, if I'll help him create Hoopty Junior.
How cool is that? I get to help somebody "Eff" their car up, and I get an at-cost paint job! (No, seriously, he wants to open the back of his car! I'm trying to steer him in the direction of the slotted, 'Typ I'-style hatch. We'll see where that goes. HE wants a hinge-style mechanism, but has a Type I engine.)
So ... The first picture is Rich's modification in PhotoShop. The other two are just here because Theron hasn't stopped me from uploading more gratuitous photos of my POS yet ... :)
It's been a while since I posted an aerial. There have been a few changes since the last one. By spring, I may be referring back to the 'Wax' thread -- or ordering some SpeedShine from Griot's -- but for now, I still have half a can of primer left.
