I have a small problem with my 2001 VS (61 Ghia) pan based speedster. I have a nardi wheel and button, which seems to work fine. I suspect the problem is in the steering column, because the horn starts to sound when parking in tight places i.e. hard over to hard over in steering. I have looked at the column where it attaches to the dash and see the rubber insulation appears to be in good position and keeping the column from touching the metal and shorting. Is there anybody else who may have dealt with this problem?
I could go with a seperate horn button on the side of the column but would like to keep it closer to where my reflex tells my hand to go..

Yelp, Alan is right if the car had a older type steering box the wire could be ran clean out the bottom of the box . They had a hollow shaft

Another cure is to get a peace of copper plumbing pipe and a generator brush to put as a contact race near the bottom of the column no more beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeb . I put mine inside the column at the under dash area ,that way its high and dry.
