To all motorheads:

Hot August Nights is coming up, July 31 thru August 8. If you've never been to Reno for the week long event, you have to see it to believe it. The cars take over the whole town of Reno and Sparks for the entire week! Mostly hot rods but lots of imports and older classics make an appearence.

I'm going down on Sunday, Aug 1 and leaving on August 5 because the hotel rooms get real pricy from Thursday thru Sunday. Still will plenty for me to do. I am going to be staying at the Nugget in Sparks, found that it is a great place to stay as lots of stuff going on right there and in the immediate neighborhood. Probably will shoot up to Tahoe one of the days!

Anybody else going to be there those days, give me a hollar!

Dale and Gary,

That's what this is all about for me, alookee doo. Too hot for me and Speedy also. Where I am staying in Sparks I'll be out of most of the downtown congestion but will still have the Sparks cruise right outside the door plus the entertainment sound stage right there also. I have found this to be the best location for HAN. Learn these things after a few years of struggling with the traffic but as Gary says, nice traffic to be in, The worst deal there is the swap meet, almost impossible to find a parking spot unless you get there early. I don't even bother going there any more as it seemed there was nothing but Chevy and Mopar parts, course I was looking for Stude parts at the time! That is a shame because a lot of people go for the swap, sure they get turned off. At least the city has seeminly cured the Oakland street gang problems, they turn them right around as they head into town. The cops have a real presence in the downtown area.

Hopefully will be able to post a few pics and give a report next week!

Bruce,

I may cruise up there this year. I used to go a lot in my land yacht, a 1958 Lincoln. So if you see a 19 foot long, white beast, with diagnol headlights, sculptured front fenders, rear fins, wide whitewalls, curb feelers(no kidding), blasting oldies music, it's me. Yes, Sparks is the best viewing and parking area I've tried. The auction is mild entertainment, if you don't mind spending the admission fee. If we meet up, I'll take you for a ride in the old tank, actually I've totally restored the Lincoln, right down to the power antenna. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Thanks Joel,

I'll be there Sunday afternoon until Thursday morning so if I see your car I'll give you a high five. I'm staying at the Nugget Sunday thru Wendsday so should be in the area most of the time. Go to O'ski's pub in Victorian Square, usually there from time to time each day!

Hope to see you and we can reminise about Chili's at Knotts!

I will go to next years. It was funny because my 1/4 mile dragster , which is a 1960 Kharman Ghia Funny car was originally built by Clayton Scudder and he jsut contacted me about the car and told me about the event. I will take it up there next year to show it off.
Please let me know how the event went.
