It's true. Long Beach is going to be part of next year's Hot August Nights. They're not moving it out of Reno, but rather growing it to include Long Beach and extending the dates of the event.

This should be totally fun with an expected 800,000+ spectator turn out.

Looks like the event will begin in Long Beach from Aug 3 - 6 and continue on to Reno on Aug 9 - 14.

Registration is open on Sept 1, 2010 and closes on Nov 1, 2010 and is limited to the 1st 6000 Registrants with a 1972 and older American or European Car or Truck.

Anyone think you might be up for this?

OK, so I made a phone call...The 150.00 gets you a packet..
packet includes a hat/shirt/passes for entrance to the cruising/Auction/all activities (for two) carte banche
they apparently have many bands scheduled, which are free to the public, and other freebees for the public, but certain things require the passes....
It's a little steep, but I have spent that much boozing in one evening, and it sounds like a good time to me...
Interesting possibility. If they split the event I wonder how many that would have gone to Reno from LA will just stay home and do long beach?. The Reno event is getting out of control with the ammount of cars and people maybe this is a way to cut the size in Reno but grow the event overall. It could be a win/win.
