Just talked to Esther and parking will be reserved at the Hotel like last year. Meeting place in San Diego for those coming from the north will be at the La Costa avenue exit at the gas station. Hey Vince, this is "your annual trip" isn't it?? What time will all the LA/OC cars arrive at the gas station and how much time do you want to take to get to the Del? I would assume the group would want to arrive at the Del at noon/100 PM to have lunch? I need Vince to answer these questions so I can plan the route. This year I will shorten the route. Vince, Please pre-plan for the traffic jam coming south. We will also plan on reserving a section of tables on the deck so we can break bread together. Also, if anyone wants to spend the night I can scout out some motels on the Island or come back to someplace like Encinitas where it is less expensive. Let me know. Dave Balser For those who would rather talk than type my number is 760 436 6139. PS I have not been on this site for a long time, is Bill George still alive or have you banished him for some violation or something?
David, good to hear from you....I think 10:00 at the LaCosta exit is probably a good time. We will set up a time to leave the South Bay to arrive as close to that time as possible. We will need to leave somewhere around 8:00-8:30......Please plan the route from the LaCosta location to the hotel, we actually had to many cars last year if thats possible, perhaps this year just post the route and approximate times, I remember you had a plan for last year that fell apart because of time, maybe we could do that....or the Thunder Ranch was a good stop....
Bill is alive and onery as ever, maybe if we yell enough, he will hear us.....
looking forward to seeing your cool ride again
Vince...The route will be basically the same but without as many complications. Through Rancho Santa Fe, Past Lake Hodges, and if you remember the run along Highland Valley Road was really great with all the switchbacks and tight corners. Down a fast stretch of Highway 67 into El Cajon and if you want we can do a Pit Stop at Thunder Ranch and bleed our brakes. Depending on the time we can take the back route up the Silver Strand or go over the bridge to the Del. We will have maps with mileage markers and let groups of 5 go on their own because keeping a train of 20 cars together is impossible. Any takers on staying overnight? I think coming back to Encinitas would be neat because we have a lot of great affordable places to stay near the beach and plenty of restaurants. Now would be the time to reserve. PS Bill, are you coming or are you going to shine your trophies that weekend? Dave PSPS We have 2 new Vintage cars in our group plus we found 2 Spyders hiding that have joined us for a total of about of about 10 cars.
Thanks Chuck for the invitation/Pit Stop. By the way, when are any of the TR guys going to join us for a run? This thursday night in Encinitas we are starting our monthly car shows. Would be nice to see someone from the shop make an appearance. Are you going to join us for the run to Coronado?
Updating Hotel Del...We cannot reserve the deck area with the umbrella's, they will not do that for us or anyone else for that matter, unless I told them I was Bill Gates sister lol. The parking lot, I finally got put thru the right guy in charge of the parking, left him a message, as far as the route goes Dave has left it up to Grant and I to figure it out.,we have never done this before so will have to just jump in or if someone else wants to do it or help!! stay tune:)
Esther, David B is the Master Planner, I suggest you allow him to chose our route once we have gathered at the LaCosta location.
We have done this cruise several times before and already have a meeting spot at the offramp of the 5 and LaCosta exit, there is a Chevron there so we can Gas up.
So depending on where you are coming from, I suggest you all make plans to meet at convenient locations with the intention of arriving at the LaCosta/5 spot at 10:00..........

The group coming from the South Bay and points North can meet at the Starbucks off the 405 and Artesia Blvd. there is a small shopping area there with a gas station and a fast food rest. I think its a Carl's Jr..........
Vince,

The Del Mar Show is put on by the same promoters as the Orange County Fairgrounds gunshow. That is to say, the same vendors. Let's hit the OC show sometime, Jo Ann and Teri can go to the Swap Meet, entrance is right next to the gunshow. As you can guess, I like things that go bang, too...
