Tom, I can remember when Texas had NO SPEED LIMIT! Was not uncommon for me and my 356B to move over the highway at 100+ MPH! Damn, I miss that Super Coupe.
Kathy and I were sent to Arizona on business just after the oil embargo in 1975. we had to drive from Phoenix to Tuscon and everybody told us it was a 2-hour drive.
We hopped into our rented Granada and dutifully did our 55-60 mph "National Speed Limit" down to Tuscon. It took almost four hours to get there. I complained to some of our co-workers in Tuscon about the bum steer we got from the Phoenix folks until they all told me: "Shoot........NOBODY here drives 55. We all cruise between cities at over 100 - Otherwise you NEVER seem to get there!! "
