Just a thought. How come dual carbs (e. g. Webers) all seem to have manifolds that mount the carbs so that all the adjustment screws are facing the outside of the engine? Seems like a manifold could be just as easily be designed so that the carbs were rotated 180 degrees and all the adjustment screws would end up facing the center of the car, where you could actuall see them! Seems kinda basic to me. Any body got some history on this?

The answer is nonautomotive related George. Between my arthritic shoulders and a rapidly deteriorating back, it would definitely enhance my automotive quality of life if I could synch carbs without so much body pain.
Now does anybody know why the carbs shouldn't face inward instead of outward? Thank you.
