How does the Tonneau cover fit?

I take it that the whole roof and the bows have to be removed in order for the rear tonneau cover to fit right?

Nope. On the Beck the roof folds out of the way and has snaps on the outside of tthe top. That may apply to some others as well. For the more traditional tops you may have to remove the top, but the bows should fold down out of your way.

bugger........I was looking at my top last night and I guess that the design is a bit of a sh*tty one as the bows from the top don't fold down below into the rear seating compartment.

Hmmm... Not familiar with the brand so I can't comment on it. How far do they stick up? How easy would it be to remove them when you wanted the tonneau?

I'll post some pictures of it tommorrow........to remove the bows requires tools...........I think it's the design of the hood that doens't allow for this type of mod.

So any info..........how do the US set-ups work?

On my CMC, when the top is removed it is unsnapped and sits down below the back of the car and the tonneau cover utilizes the same snaps as the top when it is in the up position; which is rarely ever! ;-)

Do you have a picture of that?

I was thinking of welding a cup type set-up on the lower pivoting section that would allow me slot in the upper part of the bows and then remove them when I want to fit the tonneau cover.

I guessed that the cover uses the same snaps as the hood. We get at least 300 days of sunshine a year, so I don't think it will be used that much, but I want it on just in case of that freak storm.

Many thanks Mark. From what I can see I have 2 problems.

#1 the material that mine is made out of is somewhat thicker and with the windows on the side, it doesn't fold as flat as yours.

#2 I have seatbelts that have a 3 point set-up and the rear anchor point is right under the part where the roof collapses. I changed this and now the roof goes a whole lot lower than what it used to go.

I think by changing the hood to another type of material will solve most of my problems.

Not sure if the type of top I have will fit on your car, but it is a Vintage Speedster top. The body of my car is from CMC, but it was built using all VS parts and accessories.

By changing the material I meant just the cloth as mine is a heavy duty tarp kinda deal and folds like a mofo......The basic design is pretty much the same. As with pretty much everything in this country, it's going to have to be a custom tonneau cover.

The seats are from Vintage Speedster. And I can assure you that they are very comfy!

They look like they have a whole lot more somfort in the back department....................*jealous*

Gary, some would call them "Roadster" seats... They do not have the traditional look of Speedster seats.. (The two vert. holes on backside) yet much more comfortable... Good luck with your top selection.. and get pix up ASAP...
