On another thread Jack Crosby suggested that we start a new one about high mileage cars.  As of right now I have 41,056 miles (66,219km) on mine in eight years.  Of that, >12,000 is just from driving to and from Carlisle.  Jack is also around 41,000, but we are amateurs compared to Jim and Ginny Ignacio, who have over 62,000 miles on theirs.  Y'all speak up about miles and such, so we can prove to any doubters that these cars are made to be driven, not parked.

Clutch/transmission problems kept me from driving a lot during my first year of ownership.    I now have all resolved and the car is running great.    After a 1200 mile issue-less drive back to Ft. lauderdale from Carlisle I have added about 1000 plus miles..... and that is just driving during the evenings after the (too hot Florida) Sun starts to set.    I suspect I will conservatively add at least 1000 miles per month on average not including any long distance drives.  Its hard for me to fathom why one would only drive 1000 or so miles a year unless there are serious issues with the car (clutch issues come to mind).      Driving these cars is just too much fun .... in my humble opinion.

Jim-

I'm really sorry for what happened. I also agree with Jim Kelly, et al, regarding how relieved I am you and your wife are OK.

Stuff like this is sobering, and is something of an antidote for the feelings of extreme jealously I feel when you post pictures of you and your lady cruising up the PCH... in February. There's a lot of people in CA, and if the averages hold true-- a good portion of them are going to "have fallen short of their potential" (so to speak). It's too bad people are people, but they are-- and at least this person didn't kill or maim anybody.

This gives you a chance to get another one. I know you never planned on it, but specing a dream car is one of the funnest things I've ever had the privilege of undertaking. You'll have fun as well, once you begin the process.

I'm just glad you are here and posting. You sir, are the man.
