Hi, my name is Axel J. Wiese and I own a Spyder 550 originally made by Chamonix in Brasil. I live in Frankfurt,Germany. I have been modifying and refurbishing the car over the last 3 years. During this time I have been an avid reader of this forum. I must say, that a lot of good information and ideas have come via this forum. Therefore I would like to thank all contributors for their informative input. It is good to have such a forum, because here in Europe (Germany) no such base of information exsist.

I have been and am in contact with several Spyder owners here in Germany, Austria, the UK and France. However I know that there are a lot more Spyder owners out here. It would be great to get together sometime next year, once the weather turns more spyderfriendly again.

So I would like to get in touch with all you Spyder owners in Germany and all of Europe. It would be great to hear from you and your experiences with these fantastic cars.
I would love to hear from you, so please respond via this Forum or write to me by PM.
All the best wishes for the upcoming Christmas season to all you Spyder brothers and sisters all over the world!
Axel

Hey Axel, how ya doin'

I'm in the UK and been around replicas [ and real cars ] for over 45 years. I've got cantacts with a manufacturer in Germany who has been developing a 550A replica for some 5 years now. So, there should be a few more reps around soon! The car is officially launched in the UK at the end of the month, together with their Roadster T6 rep.
"Raid - Europe 2005" - that has a good ring to it. I spoke to the manufacturer recently [ Nr. Dresden ] and to the UK Distributor - Classic Roadsters Ltd. and they're contemplating an open day / meet for rep owners. Would that be of interest if I could jack it up?
Anyway cousin, we're not that far away,
Best regards

Hi Chris,

I am doing well.
Interesting news. Please keep me posted. I would love to get together with these people, if you can arrange it.
Where and when exactly will it take place?
If you could arrange things it would be great. Reckon I would bring a few more brethren to the meeting.
Axel
HI AXEL,
Nice to have your response.

I reckon I could easily persuade the Company in Heyda [ 30 kms from Dresden ] to host a "Pig Roast" meet for 356 / Spyder owners. I am a personal friend [ 25 years ] with the owner Jurgen Mohr, and he likes to party with the rest of us! You may know Mohr for the "Rush" Lotus 7 style roadster, and he also manufactures, Cobras, 356's [ Cabs. and Speedsters ] and Roadster T6 - obviously - the 550A Spyder.

How many owners do you think there are in Germany / Austria / France?

Mohr has 2 Hectare site with plenty of hard parking - Riesa is only 8 kms away.

Mohr has a 550 rep on the road which has featured in the Becker [ Radio manufacturer ] adverts.

Late Summer a good time?

I will be quite happy to make the initial arrangements for everyone.

Please send me some details of your ride

Chris:

It would seem that the official launch of Classic Roadsters/Mohr Spyder 550 has been "imminent" for nearly four years. I first corresponded with Martin Craven about the car in early 2006, though he stopped writing later that year, shortly after I expressed reluctance to send a down payment to "get in the queue" without receiving a firm delivery date (as I am in the U.S., I had previously also suggested the use of a letter of credit as financial security to me, but my proposal was rejected). No offense to anyone involved, but it would seem that my cautiousness was well founded.

I am sure we are all watching with great interest to see if the company is now ready to provide a fully sorted out product in a timely manner. As I recall, the space-frame chassis and modern, high-performance suspension would set the car apart from those of virtually all the U.S. manufacturers.

Regards,

Peter Andreycak
