Very well said ; indeed!!! I have a SS Custom El camino that has more Hp power than brake power,,,double disc would be the only cure . Oh is it fast.. so I have to be especially careful, its my power outlet.
But these 356 cars have allways been a TCV,,, totally classey vehicle. and they WILL!!! stand the test of time.

Alan (Bima),
After reading your earlier post about "warming" up housewives in your Speedster I can see the connection to the subject of this thread... how much horsepower is enough to out run the hubbby chasing you in the family Yukon? hahaha.

Buzzing back through this thread and I detect a note of sanity creeping in...other vehicles for power, etc.
Come on, you can have a classy speedster and the capability to blow rice puffs and Z3's!

Sanity on this board....hmmmmmm. My belief is that one has to be a little dingy to own and love these cars. I'll belly up to that bar! Yes, you can have it all, a classy and fast Speedster. At this stage, I'll settle for classy. I still get the looks and rubber nekkin' when I drive mine. Makes me feel pretty special. Waxing a few dudes at the stoplight would be icing on the cake, but the visual impact the car makes speaks plenty loud for now.

Hey Barry, years ago I had a black 1973 El Camino SS (350) with CR 4-speed and positraction. That truck would really haul when you mashed on the loud pedal.
George : I would post a pic of it but their are no pic's loaded on the computer and the car needs a wax job. But it will chirp the tires when it catches second, Besides this is a speedster forum not a SS forum it don't really belong here. Now the dune buggy Being a VEEP kit by EMPI may come here When you add the other kitcar forum.
Here, here John! Well said... That's what I'm talking about... I like the "stealth factor" of looking stock but being able to hit it and smoke most cars out there. :-)

I was on the freeway..fast lane passing some slower cars. Along comes a Lexus IS 300...right up on my bumper. I pulled over (hey, I had a mild 1776 at the time. What could I do?). Now, with my 2110 it will be a different story...payback time. (my wife DID congratulate me on being level headed and mature...she won't do that again)

You are all cool, Paul however the Z'zzz are no prob, BE CAREFULL the rice puffs. The boyzz here are Pureto Rican / Cuban's who can make a coat hanger GO FAST. These are the boyzz I'm trying to 'share' the PORSCHE experence with. Some times sounds like Mc Dill AFB when all the turbos are spinnin', no kiddin'!!!!!

I've gotta say something. There will always be faster cars. There will only be a few cars as cool.
IMO the Speedster needs to be respectable and fast if you want to challenge that class. It should spank the rice burners, and stand down against the bad V8s built for stoplight racing. I think we gotta look cool, and be cool
Many of those 5.0s and Camaros are running superchargers. Unless you've built it to 200 hp, your only gonna be embarrassed by guys like my son's supercharged Camaro. It's a low 12 second car on the street all the time. Every cop knows it. Now there are a lot of T1s that fast, and faster. But I suspect only the turbo aircoolers are drivable at that class. I don't know about the rest, but I've got my reservations.

Hell NO you don't need a turbo to hang with a 12sec. driver, nor nitrous.

A. Mez: These guys are 8-7 sec. No bull poop (180mph 1/4 mi.) :-(
