Might even want to add a drilled backing plate on the underside of the door to spread the load of the tightened bolts/screws. Make sure that the mirror to body gasket is a good one that fits correctly or you'll crack the gel coat when you tighten down on the fasteners for sure.
figure out where you want it to sit.

place masking tape where the holes will be and smooth it onto the body with your fingernail to make it adhere well.

Mark onto the tape for drill positions.

Use a new drill, press very lightly and drill slowly right through the tape. Allow the drill to do the work without pressing down hard at all.

Once it's started, just hold the drill steady and let the weight of the drill do the work (keep the bit speed slow).

That should do it.
