Picked the car (VS) up today from Bremerhaven, germany and on the whole delighted. Casting my mind back to previous old brit ragtops, each had its own way of lowering the roof to prevent damage to window etc. As I don't have a manual, what is the best way to put the roof down?

Forget everything you remember about british tops. It always took me 3 men and a small boy to get the top up or down in less than 5 minutes on my english cars.
loosen the two catches, unsnap the top around the rear and lay the window area straight down in the jump seat area, grab the windshield bow and move behind the seats. Put on the quarter or full tonnau (optional altho the top will rise up at speed) and happy motoring

I think you'll find that the replicar top almost has a mind of its own...That is the window portion is rigid enough and large enough to sort of command how it wants to tuck into the passenger well...the supporting hardware just seemed to follow along and the bow fit the rear cubby space so well for me,(I have that suitcase mounted in the back with speakers in) that it acts like a security section, keeping all the top apparatus safely out of sight & tucked in.
