i had the same problem with my VS and a 2387 with 911 fan.
theres not much room but i got a 12v impact wrench(and i use that term loosely) and i believe 2 universal joints and the appropriate socket. it was enough to break the top pulley nut loose. cant remember if its right or left thread.
anyways the 12v impact doesnt rat a tat, its picks up rpm and it lets loose with one quick hit that broke it loose.
i believe if you stick anything in the blades they might crack the blade and then you are royally screwed.
Bill, does your car have a Porsche fan/alt or is it a Bergmann or other aftermarket unit? Mine has an old 55 amp 911 unit, rebuilt of course. It has eight holes around the inside of the pulley(5/16" fits, I am sure they are metric) for a Porsche tool that comes with every 911. I didn't have one so I made one out of some flat steel and two pins. You have to notch it so a wrench or socket can fit.

If it is a 911 fan, housing and alternator, there is a way to remove it without the tool. But if you screw up, you will chip the fan.

Slide a rubber handled tool (mallet etc) handle first through the fan and into the back of the housing. Wedge the two together. If you can put two rubber handled tools on opposite sides, that's even better.

At that point you can remove it the nut with the right sized socket, or in a pinch, even a large crescent wrench. We have a large end wrench that we ground a little off to make it just the right size as we didn't have the right sized socket (and couldn't get it that day).

If it is a 911, then there will be a series of shims. Remember how many came from where because that is the adjustment and you want to put it back the same way.

Again, if you do this wrong, you make a bit chip on the fan blade (and if you are really a ham-fist, you'll bust the blade through). If you do it right, you'll get it off with no special tools. I've been taking these in and out for years like this.
