I am waiting on parts once again so am thinking of passing the time making a louvered engine cover. Importing one will more than double the cost so self made it is.

Can someone please post the dimensions of the louvers and position of the cover?

The alternative is a double grille cover, which may be easier as since I have the mould, I can use an old cover to make the new one. The curvature of the cover may be an issue fitting the grills but after all it is done all the time. The downside is that it is more expensive as I have to buy 2 grills, but if it is worth doing it is worth overdoing.

Which in the opinion of the list looks better - louvers or double grill?

Thanks

That is what I had in mind, although my Sister has a metal company so getting the louvers done is a freebee. The bonous is that she will do them on as thin a sheet of aluminium as possible so that I can bend it to the contour of the engine cover. Should be easy enough to make a one of this way, or even do a mould as it is cheap here.

I am in Thailand and it can rain here like you have never seen before. The comments about water intrusion are giving me second thoughts now with either louvers or dual grills.

Even with the single grill cover it looks like water will pool up, and I am thinking of some sort of drain. Out to the garage now to look at it a bit more
Looks great but due to the very high import cost I have to do it myself.
Should be easy enough to get my Sister to make me some aluminium louvered inserts and put them into the glass lid.

I take it that this was a non-factory mod?

Rain is still my concern, although I have no distributor (EDIS on Megasquirt) the air cleaners are vulnerable
Perhaps a mesh type rain condom like I have on my bike would do the trick?
