Hi,

I live in Belgium and I'm very much interested in buying a factory new turn key 356 Speedster Replica. However, regulations have changed and I was wondering how the car imported from the USA can be made streetlegal in Belgium. I'd like to have assurance on this topic before taking the next steps in the purchasing process.

Does someone in this community have recent experience in this matter and are you willing share your knowledge and/or contacts ? Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Luigi

I'd check with Carey Hine's crew at Beck Special Edition - they export a lot of their cars around the world.  BECK Speedster, BECK Spyder, BECK Roadster and BECK GTS

Recall someone in UK mentioning that there they were required to add an external gas filler cap and also raise the front head lights (neither an easy task).

There is a UK based equivalent of SOC --- check them out as members there may have first-hand experience.

@LuigiLahaye, I am the same way.  It's always best to get exactly what you want.  One thing to consider though, is that the reputable manufacturers (at least those here in the states) all have very long waiting lists right now. Beck's is over three years, and I think Vintage Motorcar's is similarly lengthy.  Those are the only two builders of new cars currently operating in our market that most of us can recommend.

Hello Lane,

I've already contacted Vintage Motorcar, but the import into Europe remains an issue.

Luigi, having imported a few motorcycles from Italy, let me warn you that you’re taking what is already a time consuming and patience trying proposition and making it at least 5 times harder by trying to get a US manufacturer to build an EU compliant car.

Hello dlearl476,

I was already in touch with Aircooled. They confirm that it is not possible anymore to import speedster replicas from the USA. I was hoping for some kind of exception and I'm not giving up yet ...
