OK, I lost a bulb in one of my new Marchall repros and cant seem to get the H3 replacement to fit in properly. The problem is not the bulb but the electrical connection to the hot lead. The H3 has a faston(tm) tab contact which is supposed to mate with a female unit in the light housing. The female unit is buried down in the tube feeding the housing such that it is both impossible to push the tab into and that it shorts out to the metal housing and/or tube.

Any best known methods of making this work short of removing the housing and rewiring the lead to make it a couple inches longer?

OK, I fixed the issue. It was entirely of my making, DOH! Discovered a couple of snug tie wraps where the wire exits the lamp ass'y and undid those giving myself some slack to pull the connection fully inside the housing. slid on some new heat shrink, reconnected, and heat shrunk the heat shrink to fit. Works fine now.
