How would a lexan windshield hold up?

I just cracked my windshield and i need to get one fast but i thought about cutting out a lexan windsheild and tring that for a while. Has anyone done this and if so how does it hold up. I know it will scratch but I think scratches can be polished out. This may be way off but its worth asking.

Lexan is a brand name for polycarbonate. Some polycarbonates are made to better resist scratching, but in the final analysis it may scratch and/or yellow.

I have used lexan successfully on boats. The good points for your application are strength and resistance to UV rays. The down side is price. Lexan is much more expensive than generic polycarboantes. The most serious problem you may encounter is the inability to form the material to your specifications. My use was confined to a flat plane. If you try it, I would try a cheaper generic acrylic for the first run. Regards, Jim

We have suppied Poycarbonate windscreens to cars outside the US as they are not DOT and you may get a ticket for them. The scratch resistant material is better and will form to your w/s frame. Cost is about $125.00 with shipping if you are still interested. The down side is the wipers will scratch it quickly.
