My name is Randy and I just bought my first Speedster from MikeM on this forum! I bought the car through B.A.T. I am stoked! The car will likely be in Palm Springs CA, 90 percent of the time, where I spend the winter mostly. The car is a JPS Subi Speedster. I have been considering one for awhile and had imagined and saved pictures of how I would spec one, then I saw Mikes for auction and it is just about 100 percent what I was after. I jumped on it.

So the last car I was seeking to round out my stable was a 356 Variant. I have spent the last 5 years seeking a 356 coupe, and in that time have agreed to buy 3 and have inspected 4 others, all rejected after final inspection, the last one the dealer fried the electrics last minute and never mentioned that the oDemeter was broken and that the engine pushed smoke when warm (kinda funny, kinda sad).
During this time I kept coming back to Leno’s video of the JPS. I had configured a few Speedster replica builds and saved a bunch of pictures but never pulled the trigger on ordering one. Then this one popped up on B.A.T. 90% of the way I would have ordered one! So I am Stoked!
I am going to be selling the 1959 MGA Twin Cam I bought last month for my Palm Springs house. As the Speedster will be in Palm Springs usually when we are not not there and being the car will sit (properly stored on race ramps covered and charging) for months at a time this fuel injected Speedster replica will be better suited for that use.  If your looking for a driver quality MG Twin Cam that needs a bit of love message me!
My car background is that I have had over 65 cars at this point most of them special interest. Currently I have 3 Porsches, a Ferrari, a Shelby Mustang, The MGA TC, a Jeep, and 2 Harley’s in addition the the Speedster incoming. I also am a longtime Powerboat skipper and have a True North 38 Downeast style powerboat.
I enjoy this forum and look forward to meeting the So Cal Speedster crew in So Cal!

Haha none taken, I asked Mike about it during the auction. I agree it looks a bit “non-functional”. Although I also had a Shelby GT straight from Shelby American in Vegas that in the past that also had a cosmetic hood scoop. That got modified to work. I have a plan or two for this Speedster or maybe not. I have a tip I learned from an old biker who lived not far from Mike actually that you should really own a vehicle for at least a year before you modify them ( for me that means excluding boat electronics or wheels and/or tires). That way you know what truly bothers you. Center fill cap on a 356 GT looks cool, and I am sure with my fab skills I could make a center fill tank work with this car if it seems a bother. No worries!

I also wish you could edit the post after 60minutes, I reread my post and I seem like a d-bag listing all my cars hahah, sorry if that’s the case doh!

I will say that I am a driver so they all will get driven, I am excited to enjoy the speedster.
