I don't know where to get those, but I was just wondering now that you brought it up: does anyone ever put half moons on their wheels on the Spyder? My NuNu (Speedster) had them and they were beautiful. I've often thought of doing this on Spydie, for practical reasons mostly; that is, cleaning half moons is easier than wiping around all those bolts and lumps, and you don't break any nails. Don't think I'm kidding. . .v v
Bruce: I'm in the process of "retro-ing" my spyder with my wheels painted to match the red of the interior and chrome baby-moons. West Coast Metric has them for $12.95 each.
There's a really cool old book called "The Porsche Book". It's written by Lothar Boschen and Jurgen Barth (whose dad raced spyders). In the section on Spyders, they have several pictures of Spyders with baby moons and painted wheels. IMHO, they look really cool...total '50's.
But then, I'm a retro-grouch any way.
Cheers!
Guys,
The 356 "nipple" hubcaps have the enamel crest you are looking for. Baby moon hubcaps as seen on some early Spyders didn't have the crest at all. If you go to the vendor page on the 356 Regisrty website 356regisrty.org there are several vendors which sell both types. Sorry to but in to your nipple tweeking. I'll be off now.
Warren
