Yes, it is true. I finally had to make the very hard decision to sell my car, as you know I have been trying to make the decision for a long time. FORTUNATELY (I can never spell that word right), I have my Dad's blessing and he reminded me that when things turn around I can get another one. BUT, don't count me out for the speedster events, I don't go away that easily :) The car really means nothing as long as I can still hang with my SOC buddies.

Have you considered other options? I here they are giving Pole dancing classes at the local college, don't laugh, I have spent a fortune at some of those clubs...

Jennifer, so sorry to read that you're selling Snow White! I know its a painful decision, but we all realize in this downturn economy that you do what you gotta do. Hope our paths cross again in the near future!
I am so sorry to hear that you have to do this. But we like you and Darren, the car is just an accessory like a purse or bracelet. I hope that things turn around for you soon. Some day this war's gonna end!

Vince, haha I actually joked with Darrin about that.
Jim- of course our paths will cross again, I will see you at Vince's and I am still planning on going to Pismo, never know I may have another car by then :)
Alan-I hope it goes quickly, I can't take knowing that it is for sale and still sitting in my garage, kills me.
My Dad kindly said: "if you want to drive a speedster, come get mine anytime you want". I have the best Dad in the whole world.

Jennifer - Good luck with the sale. Sorry you have to do it, but I certainly understand. Hope to see you and Darrin soon.
About all you SOC Speedster price fixers, Vince, Alan & Jim, why haven't you mentioned to Jennifer that her price is too high? Hmmmmmm....? Why not just let the market do what it does? This is not fair to either DJ or Jen.

Ha ha Warren, they don't wanna hurt my feelings:) plus my car is worth that, one just sold on ebay for that exact amount, and mine has more stuff!
We shall see.....
We shall see.....
Price Fixers? No, not by a long shot. Just an educated statement as to what some speedsters are worth based on color, interior, overall styling, motor, carbs, condition and mileage etc. and the actual year a speedster was built has little reflection as to it's current value.

I'm sorry that you have to sell that beautiful Speedster, but I'm sure you will get what you are asking for it, because it really is a beautiful Speedster.
However, I thought there was something fishy about the one on eBay that just sold for $25,000. If you look at the bidding history on that car, it went from $14,000 to $15,000 to $20,000 and then to $25,000 in less than 1 minute. It didn't make sense why anyone would increase their bid by $5,000 at a time rather than a few hundred or possibly $1,000 when there was still 3 days left before the close of the auction? So I called them and the car is still for sale.

At any rate, good luck with your sale and I hope you become an owner again very soon.

thanks for the Info Troy. So far I have had over 300 views and over 30 watchers, so hopefully something will come of it. I will negotiate if I have to, but I won't give it away :)
Warren, to answer your question, and be totally honest, which I always try to be, I don't want her to sell Snow White, so if she wanted 30K, I wouldn't say a word....Not that I don't wish her the best and hope her situation changes...
Jennifer and Darren are two of my buds, and I feel their pain,
we have a core group of owners here in So. Cal. who have a bond that goes beyond the SOC, and I know that I would do whatever possible to help them, I can't buy Jennifer's tub, but perhaps not saying anything could help...

haha, I love you Vince :)
Jennifer you have forgotten one option here... Dump Darren, that's half your overhead right there... He's a good looking lad I am sure he'll catch-on some where else.. LOL... NOW you can keep Snow White and the 32 DD's that GERD wanted... Personally I do not think he'd fit in your bra anyways!
Sounds like Jen has a dedicated Seven Dwarf following ... I mean I'm just saying.
With a rack like hers, most likely more than seven..and perfect height, I'd say

Well...I got one offer on my car last night, they offered $15,000. Hmmmmm......I think NOT!
Jennifer - I just sold my Motor Home. I can't tell you how many low ball offers I got, but I did have to significantly reduce the price to sell it. Just depends on how bad and how soon you need to move it. Maybe you'll just say screw it and keep Snow White....Well, we hope so anyway.

Good Luck Jen, the car is beautiful, and whoever buys it will be happy for sure!!
...and your next, future one, whenever you can, will be even better!

so I got my second low ball offer, $15,000. I am willing to negotiate, but not to that low of a number, seriously am I crazy?
Jennifer, you will never get the number that you want basically because everyone is feeling the pinch right now....and I suspect this will go into next year, before anything changes....
That said, you can either forget about selling or pick a new number, but 15 large for snow white is like giving it away...
That tub is as nice as it was the day you brought it to Paso Robles 4 years ago...
Only you and Darrin know what it is that would be acceptable and also get you through this period, or it's not worth it....

Ahmee El Diablo!
I want $17K for mine and I think I'll be hard pressed to get it, now, or anytime soon. I've been draggin ass putting it on ebay and Craigslist for the very reason of what Jen is going through with the low ballers. I'm in no hurry to finish all the little detail work to get it ready for sale because then I'll be sitting there staring at it saying "Either drive it or sell it dumb ass."
When you "need" to sell something you have a tendency to start second guessing your asking price if it doesn't sell right away. Fortunately I don't HAVE to sell it, I'd just like to sell it so I can dump all kinds of stupid money into my SC. That, and I'm running out of room.
I sold my Scion toaster to one of my employees and they couldn't keep up the payments so now I have THAT back too!

OK, thanks for the input. I absolutely will not sell out of desperation for $15,000. I have it in my mind that I won't sell for below $20,000. I believe it to be a very fair price, even in this market. I really think people are trying to "take advantage" of this slow economy, which I understand, but seriously that car for 15 grand is a joke, in my opinion. There are serious buyers out there, I have over 700 "watchers" on ebay, there has to be 1 serious buyer in the bunch.
Jen,
You may have better luck locally. Do you know any small specialty dealers around you that can help. It would have to be someone you can trust. Try to open talks with some specialty sport car sellers in your area. They will have access to the network of people that you are trying to reach. Or, find a friend that has a home or business with safe parking and a good view from the street. The old fashion way of selling a car may come in handy right now. Vince is 100% right about economy; low demand = low prices. Oh, and by the way, that black and white photo of you in your tub is pricless. Major hottie! Dont tell Sandy:)

Jennifer, Marty brings up a good point, do you know someone with a store on the PCH in Hermosa or Manhattan beach, cause if there is money out there, that's where you will find it....
If you consine it to someone you need to share the profit, so that's out, but just parking it somewhere safe will draw plenty of attention...How about bringing it to Rubies next Friday night in Redondo, put a sign on it and see what happens.....
I will be there....Oh, heels and a short dress won't hurt either..

Jen, I'm kinda diggin the one of your lips in the mirror. I'm just sayin...........
Jennifer: Beautiful nice quality car, but you don't need a newbie to tell you that. I am looking to buy and I am experiencing frustration as well. Central Illinois isn't exactly SoCal for being able to take a day or two, look at a half dozen speedies and make a decision. I am relying on this site, Samba and Ownsters.com for the hunt, with advice from here. (Thanks all for your input and advice).
I'm finding lots of cars but not necessarily getting feedback from sellers that is straighforward anywhere other than from folks advertising here. E-bay is a flippin zoo.
What I've looked for is detailed data on advertised cars and a ton of pictures. Quick response to reasonable questions and candor about any problems or issues.
You seem to be providing that. I suspect it will work out for you once you have kissed the requiaite number of frogs to find the prince!
Good luck
