Wonderful for you!  That is one gorgeous car plus that 1915 cc engine was built by Jake Raby so you got a nice bonus there.

What an adventure you are going to have---now you need to make the  Carlisle event this year---I am right on the way for you (near Little Rock) and we can caravan together.

Congratulations- you scored a real winner!

LARGE CONGRATS.  Apparently that car is a beaut....nice choice for you. Ideas for the trip ? Take along enough spare bits that you are comfortable with and maybe even bring along a few more and then,  if neccesary, you'll have the stuff on hand if you need a local mechanic to install something. Jack Crosby would be a great asset to compile a list of what to bring along. Now that you've got the car squared away, I'd plan the trip so you can enjoy it. You've got a nice ride...enjoy the experience of getting it home too. Maybe 350-400 miles a day, Google some nice restaurants along the way, take it easy and get into the groove with no pressure. It seems no matter where we go, we average 50 mph overall during a days run. That includes the whole day, lunch which might be in a restaurant, take out, picnic etc., pee breaks, rolling a large doobie ( just kidding ) gassing up etc. Relax and enjoy it.

Thanks for all of the reply's  you seem like a great group of fun loving guys.

i would love to meet the Hines but it would add a couple of hundred miles to what already seems like an epic journey in my play book. I am going to order an extra clutch cable from beck tomorrow as a just in case. Hopefully it Weill arrive before I leave Indiana  I will stock up on jerky and expand my already started hat colection I have owned a 68 912 soft window targa and a 914 and cannot tell you what a dream come true getting this little speedster is.
