It's a spring clip, of course.
Looks like the springs they put in seats to give them bounce.
Goes in the turn signal switch, right-hand side I think.
Thanks gang!
Any idea why it would just fall out, Obviously something is worn.

Your turn signal decided it no longer needed or wanted that part so it spit it out like a watermelon seed at a summer festival.
Most likely the old plastic tabs it clips onto broke.
You now have manual cancelling turn signals!
Robert, thanks for the laugh!
Will this affect function? Or is it just to help it return to neutral?
Wolfgang - that was funny.

Any time. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to tell you how to fix sh!$ but at least I can make you laugh.

The only function it will affect is self-cancelling for the turn signals as Wolfgang said. Sort of a PIA and embarrassing if you forget to cancel after signalling for a turn...you look like some little old lady driver that cruises down the road for miles with a turn signal flashing...LOL
Bill if you plan on replacing your turn signal mechanism let me know I have a brand new one that I never used...it is yours for the shipping.

Bill:
If, like me, you are now on Medicare, it might just be your car's way of welcoming you to the "Auld Pharts" club.
You know.....Those old guys who make a turn and then ride for the next five miles with their blinker going because they didn't turn it off?
Your Speedster has just made it easier for you.
Welcome to the AP Club!
Well at 52 I'm not quite there. But I did drive about 10 miles yesterday before I realized my blinkers where still on...
The sad thing is, my list of things needed to be done is larger then the want to be done list.

Bill,
They make loud flasher for exactly that issue :~)
Doc,
My sweet 2110 w/A-exhaust cancels out that silly little flasher sound!
