Lovely looking car, but not with 60 h.p.
Originality only goes so far (and so fast).
It is a beautiful car, but as Bob said, it comes with a whopping 60hp (and a swingaxle, and a 4 speed, and drums, and skinny rims with skinny tall tires; oh boy!). To get over 100hp (a 4 cam car) is worth, what, close to a mil? And then you'd be too afraid to drive it. And to be honest, if this one was in my garage, I'd be a little skittish about driving it as well...
If it were in my garage I'd sell it, buy a duplicate replica and use the rest of the money to buy a beautiful new home cash. But that's just me...
"focused looks appealed to sports car enthusiasts and its price of just under $3,000 definitely helped to get Speedsters off the showroom floors and out onto the open road."
--long time ago, and it was new then. It's depreciated some, I'd think...
I'd offer $2,200 and see if he bites.
All he can say is "no," right?

The Subie engine I'm going to swap into it costs more than that
Your car is so good looking, Joe!
Joe, thought you would...
The overriders and rudge wheels really set it off Joe. I like how much room is in the backseat on the original car

Still not enough for when we were teenagers...

I sure hope so...
Bob's comment triggered some good memories!
1959 TR 3 Triumph ( no pun intended)
3's fun too...
all 3 times!
I should be careful what I start here. My first car in high school was a Nash Metropolitan. It hardly had a front seat. After that was a Bugeye sprite, so no big back seats in my youth.
But you could pack a blanket in each...
My first car was a 1937 Packard hearse. No back seat but a mattress in the back.
My first few cars (until I was almost 30?) were beetles, but we made do. Fortunately at the tender age of 24 I bought my first house...
The hearse, with 21,000 miles, cost me $65. My second car was a 1953 Plymouth for $35.
Then I got a 1960 Beetle to start a series of aircooled VWs.

Michael!!!! Why I am surprised! You gotta watch out for the quiet ones, folks.
