I got one for a mid '70 Chevy from Advance Auto for $8. It's the foot operated push on type.
OK. I guess I needed to be more specific. I need a headlight switch for a Speedster.
Troy, you may have to be even more specific with a pic. of what you are looking for as there are MANY different switches used in our cars.

Troy---call Kirk at Vintage ---these switches are inexpensive.
I just rec'd one myself. The problem I keep having is with the dash light dimmer --after a while it just won't work and gets stuck at dim or bright depending on where it was set when it stopped working.
The new one that just came is a bit different from the last two and looks to be a higher quality but I can't see inside it.
The posts are numbered and the same as the old version. Easy to replace the old one.

Sorry I read it as a high beam "headlight" switch. I suspect VS uses a generic push-pull switch. Marine stores have quality replacements - you should be able to switch knobs easily. The headlight circuit should have a relay in the circuit - it not the sudden current draw will burn cheap switch contacts.
Jack.
That is the same problem that this switch is having, you have to fiddle with it to get it instrument lights to stay on. I'm sure I can get one from Vintage, but Kirk has been a little under the weather lately and I thought I would try on here first.
No problem Wolfgang. I thought you were pulling my leg at first then I realized that you thought I was talking about the dimmer.

I have an old 356 light switch which suffered the same problem. I just moved the dash lights lead to the headlight circuit so I get full on all the time. It's a common problem with poorly lit gauges that the dimmer isn't that important to be working. (to me anyway)

I went with a switch from a 911/912. They are a bit more expensive but the original 356 bezel fits right on along with the knob. picked mine up used at hershey for $10 bucks. ebay always has a bunch but more pricey.
Troy... I have an extra new VW OEM H/L Switch with the stat' less the knob. ~Alan
Thanks Alan, but I didn't hear from anyone so I just ordered one from Vintage this morning.
