I need help

Could be loose mounting bolts on the shift plate at the base of the shifter and under the carpet. If you can down shift from 4th to 3rd the plate would be aligned as 4th is in the same plane as 3rd. The transition from 2nd to 3rd could be moving the plate too far over and now 3rd is misaligned.

What Mike said. I had the same problem getting into reverse. I had to loosen the bolts and move the shifter about 1/4 " forward to fix it. Hope your problem is just as easy.

Sheesh! I'm just adjusting the shifter on a sandrail I'm working on. Bone dry, and no captive nut plate below....going to fabricate one shortly, and weld the nuts to it. Plus the bolts are so long, the rear one was rubbing on the shift rod. I hate fixing other people's "work"!

Well, I sweated like a pig, VERY high humidity today, but I got the shifter sorted. And you can actually adjust it now, just loosen two bolts and move it a bit and tighten.

Slightly off topic...I've seen "IM Manual" mentioned in a couple threads (most recently by Rusty above).

I've searched the site but am not able to find it. Would one of you kind folks point me in the right direction?
